Computer Security is one of the most crucial topics that is in the buzz nowadays. Due to the advancement of internet the cyber world is becoming bigger and bigger. When it’s becoming big it does have a lot of malwares that could corrupt the computer. So one should have a basic guide to what should be done to keep the machine in the best condition. There is a 5 finger rule that I want to state here so as to be in the good computer security habits zone.
- Lock it as if it’s a property : One needs to lock the computer when one is not using it in the same way as we lock most of the valuables because it has very important data that should be protected in all cases.
- Disconnect from Internet : One should make a point to disconnect from the internet and from all its native websites when the work is done. This is very vital because if one does not, it exposes us very quickly to any attack.
- Change Passwords : One should always change passwords at all the different locations, being computer or websites, because in this way one can keep a check on the websites and keep then private and safe.
- Anti-Virus To the Rescue : Anti-virus is the most vital of the computer nowadays as it is the sole guard in between the pc and the internet. It keeps the computer safe from all the viruses and Trojans present in the huge sea of data and that could sneak in with any download if there is no anti-virus. One should also scan the full computer on a weekly basis so as to keep the computer clean even if some Malwares had come in.
- Back-Up, A must : One needs to have back-up of almost all the data that one work’s upon daily basis. One needs to have this practice in one’s daily life incorporated so as to keep the valuables safe. Set aside a few hours a week to make back-ups of the data.
So, to keep the machine safe one should understand the severity of the attacks that could happen on the machine if one simply take these points superficially. Thus, I would urge each and every one who are reading to understand this and try to incorporate good security habits for the computer in day to day life.
